Carols and candles aglow in the night,

Carols and candles aglow in the night,
Hearth fires blazing all cozy and bright,
Red-leaved poinsettia, white Christmas rose,
Ice skaters whirling on ice as it snows,
Sleigh bells and Santas,
Tinsel-trimmed trees,
Mistletoe magic and warm memories,
Angels all bringing glad tidings anew,
Season’s best wishes especially for you!

There once was an elf named Fred

There once was an elf named Fred
Whose house was of gingerbread.
Though tasty, these walls
dissolved in snowfalls
And also made crumbs in Fred’s bed!

The Day Before Christmas

The Day Before Christmas

We have been helping with the cake,
And licking out the pan,
And wrapping up our packages,
As neatly as we can.
We have hung our stockings up,
Beside the open grate.
And now there’s nothing more to do,

Christmas spirit

Christmas Spirit

The smell of pine boughs fills the air,
Pretty silver bells tinkle everywhere.
Sparkling snow covers the ground,
Christmas spirit is all around.

Christmas is great

Christmas is great;
My time is mine to spend;
I can be with friends or watch TV;
I wish it would never end.
I don’t miss school or homework;
I really like to be free;
But I’ll miss you when I’m gone from school;
You’re just what a teacher should be.
So have a perfect Christmas;
Be sure to have lots of fun;
I look forward to seeing you again,
When Christmas is done.
I made a Christmas wish for you,
For a holiday full of pleasure,
Friends and family all around,
And memories to treasure.
I wish for you a Christmas filled
With joyous holiday cheer;
I wish you a Merry Christmas,
And a very Happy New Year!

Our Christmas tree, stood straight and tall

Our Christmas tree, stood straight and tall,
We had it standing in the hall,
With decorations, sparkling bright,
And baubles, glittering in the light,
Rich tinsel laced around branches wide,
With bells and bows, that could be spied
Hiding among the dark green pine,
In silver and gold, boldly they did shine,
And at the very top, such a wondrous sight,
A star was placed there, which gave delight.
The whole effect so pleasured the eye.
We planted it outside, now it’s 18 feet high.
This year it will once again, be a thrill,
Hung with big colored lights, in the crisp winter chill.

Christmas is mugs of hot cocoa

Christmas is
mugs of hot cocoa
and a cozy old couch
just snuggled up together
warm and happy

Christmas is
getting a Santa hat
and wearing it everywhere
because you think you look cool
and so does mom, so why not?

Christmas is
hanging ornaments on the tree
that you got late because you’ve been
settling into a new house
but it’s still a tree and who cares

Christmas is
typing up a poem
for your mom because
you love her even though it’s uncomfortable
to write when you’re shy about it

Christmas is
new pajamas and cozy slippers (that you don’t really have but cliche)
watching a corny Christmas movie
and laughing together
no one wants to go to bed

Christmas is
about family more than anything else
I love that because
presents are fun
but what’s the point, if little brother isn’t there to laugh so loudly at your expression
and dad isn’t there to tell him to quiet down because it’s five in the morning
and he’s tired
and mom isn’t there to smile and sip her coffee because it’s five in the morning
and she’s tired
what’s the point if no one’s there to eat dinner quickly and run to your toys
so I’m glad
that I can do all that and smile

Merry Christmas

Five Little Evergreens

Five little evergreens
Outside in a row.
The first one said,
“Let’s look at the snow.”
The second one said,
“Oh-oh, it’s getting cold.”
The third one said,
“Christmas is coming so I’m told.”
The fourth one said,
“I hope someone decorates me.”
The fifth one said,
“We’ll just have to wait and see.”

I Wish That I Could Wrap Up Christmas…

I wish that I could wrap up Christmas

I wish that I could wrap up all the love and Holiday cheer
That comes along with Christmas and with New Year’s every year,
Pack it in a pretty box and put it on my shelf
And pull it down again each year and give it to myself.
I wish that I could tie up all my favorite carols with twine,
Wind around some ribbon, too, and for twelve months call them mine
Until the next Yuletide came when the sounds again could be unfurled
And untie every single one then give them to the world

To a loving friend

To a loving friend

Merry Christmas to a loving friend,
We will enjoy this season
Because there is no reason
To stay gloomy with a friend like you
Because with you everything is new
I would like to say my bestie,
Love you,
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
