Mum you know I (we) rely on you

Mum you know I (we) rely on you
Perhaps more than I (we) ought
But I (we) really do appreciate
All your love and support
Have a really lovely Christmas
And may all your pressies be beauties
Have a nice long rest before resuming
Your child minding duties
Which I (we) hope you find rewarding
Not in money terms, as such
But knowing that I (we) and the children
Love you very much

Christmas is mugs of hot cocoa

Christmas is
mugs of hot cocoa
and a cozy old couch
just snuggled up together
warm and happy

Christmas is
getting a Santa hat
and wearing it everywhere
because you think you look cool
and so does mom, so why not?

Christmas is
hanging ornaments on the tree
that you got late because you’ve been
settling into a new house
but it’s still a tree and who cares

Christmas is
typing up a poem
for your mom because
you love her even though it’s uncomfortable
to write when you’re shy about it

Christmas is
new pajamas and cozy slippers (that you don’t really have but cliche)
watching a corny Christmas movie
and laughing together
no one wants to go to bed

Christmas is
about family more than anything else
I love that because
presents are fun
but what’s the point, if little brother isn’t there to laugh so loudly at your expression
and dad isn’t there to tell him to quiet down because it’s five in the morning
and he’s tired
and mom isn’t there to smile and sip her coffee because it’s five in the morning
and she’s tired
what’s the point if no one’s there to eat dinner quickly and run to your toys
so I’m glad
that I can do all that and smile

Merry Christmas

Mother, You Have Provided

Mother, you have provided me with the gift of life
and helped me to make it through pain, grief and strife.
At Christmas time, I simply don’t know how to give
you the proper thanks for what you’ve done,
so here’s a great hug of love and joy from your favorite son!

When I Was A Child

When I was a child
And a right tearabout
You knew things without seeing
Intuition, no doubt

With that same intuition
I’m hoping you’ll know
How much I love you
(It doesn’t always show)

Happy Festive Period, Mum Mam Mom
And I hope each day will be
As filled with joy
As you’ve made life for me

For All The Cookies

For all the cookies that you baked
And stockings that you stuffed,
For all the messes you cleaned up
And pillows that you fluffed…

For all the days you loved me,
Even when I made it difficult,
For all these things,
and much, much more…
Thank you for giving me the gift of your Love

Merry Christmas MOM

Merry Christmas Mom!

It’s a mother’s way to understand
The things that go unsaid,
The loving words we’d like to say,
But just think about instead,
So, Mother, hope you’ll know this wish
On Christmas Day for you
Is from the heart with lots of love
And deep affection, too!

Have a Wonderful Christmas, Mother

Every Year Mom

Every year mom gets a tin of talcum powder.
She always says, ‘Ah my favourite!’
Even before she opens the wrapping
Grandpa always says, ‘Well, I know what’s in here.
Its two pairs of socks. Just what I wanted!’

I mean, it looked just like an umbrella.
And, before Aunti Vi pulled the paper off,
She said to Mum, ‘It will match that new coat of mine.’

We always do.’
I call that a bit unimaginative, don’t you?

Maybe, when you come to think about it,
Grown-ups need mom  Christmas far more than children do.

For All The Nights You Stayed

For all the nights you stayed up late
to trim the Christmas tree,
For all the costly presents
That you purchased just for me…

For all the times you tucked me in
And read me stories too,
For all the ways you cheered me up
When I was feeling blue…

For all the days you loved me,
Even when I made it difficult,
For all these things,
and much, much more…
Thank you for giving me the gift of your Love

It’s A Mother’s Way To Understand

It’s a mother’s way to understand
The things that go unsaid,
The loving words we’d like to say,
But just think about instead,
So, Mother, hope you’ll know this wish
On Christmas Day for you
Is from the heart with lots of love
And deep affection, too!

Have a Wonderful Christmas, Mother

Mother, Since The Day

Mother, since the day I was born,
you gave me gift after gift.
This year for Christmas,
let us end this rift.
